| Why is the sky blue? Nanette, 13 |
Nanette, the sky is blue because the light from the sun (in a wide-range of electromagnetic wave lengths ... primarily in the visible part of the spectrum) is selectively scattered by "things" in the sky. Due to the size of the molecules in the air, the blues tend to be scattered the most. This scattering creates our blue skies. The yellows and reds usually pass through the atmosphere. As a result, the sun typically appears yellow, red or orange. |

Orca Bay is in Alaska. Orcas (killer whales) travel through the inlet, past the town of Cordova through Orca Bay into Prince William Sound. |

The spaceship rides from earth to space, on a GIANT rocket. On blast-off the fuel in the rocket is ignited, and the power of that ignition creates 7 million pounds of thrust sending that spaceship into space. The noise on takeoff of that happening is unbelievable! |
