[Interview With Jim Cuddy]

[Q] One environmental concern is water pollution. What is your opinion on the state of toxins in our waters and oceans?
[A] Well, I live by the Dawn valley in Toronto, and the Dawn river flows through the Dawn valley, and it's obviously an extremely polluted [river]. I remember talking to somebody who was a summer student coming to check the water; she was sort of describing to me how disgusting it was. And you know, it would be a very nice place if the water was clean. There is a lot of projects there to try to clean it up; they're making these big pods that the water flows through and, I don't know what the filter system is, but it seems to be something like styrofoam; I don't know if that's possible; that seems [not very] anti-pollutant. My opinion is just like everyone's opinion; I would do anything I could to aid and encourage the cleaning up of the waters, and I would think it seems like a very smart [thing] in the long term for us to have clean waters. That's one of the things that distinguishes Canada from the other countries in the world.
