[Interview With Jim Cuddy]

[Q] What to you is the most rewarding part of being a musician?
[A] Hmm. Well, it's a fun way to make a living; I get to travel a lot; sometimes that's really difficult because you get really tired and don't remember where you are. But I think, meeting people is one of the greatest benefits of doing a job like this. Seeing the impact that you have directly on people's lives. Just looking at their faces. I get so much more out of it than I think they do. From the writing to the travelling, to the recording and performing, it's all; I'm really greatful to be able to do this with my life. My mother always says that grade one was the best five years of my life. Oddly enough, the thing that I've learnt about this business is that I want the kids to know about is that I'm so glad that I have a business sense; that I went to college. I wasn't a great, great student in school; I should have worked a lot harder than I did, but I boy did I ever need to understand numbers and business. You don't know if you're winning the game unless you can count how many pucks went into the net, so it's really really important to a lot of things, if you want to be in a band, or you want to sing; take music in college; finish school. Really, the more knowledge you have, the less taken advantage of you're going to be because you really do have to understand. When people are explaining things to you, you need to understand that.
