[Interview With Jim Cuddy]

[Q] How can people in general help take care of our planet?
[A] Well, my parent always instilled in myself and my two brothers that any kind of change starts with the individual. I think a lot of us feel really helpless; you see things on TV and you think "I can't possibly make a difference." A lot of people are tentative about sending money, or they don't know where it's going to go, and I don't blame them. What you can do, and what you can really do to be effective is to really work on your own life; to be a good friend to your friends, to do your own kind of recycling programs within your own life, and to do things that affect you and your life. That's how it works, if you can imagine if everyone did just a little bit more than they normally do. I remember, I threw cans out all the time; you know, pop cans, I threw them in the garbage, and now I think, "I can't believe I used to do that." Even if you don't want to recycle your own cans, there's so many Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or Brownies, or Girl Guides, who you could phone who would come and pick up your bottles for you. Pick up the phone book; there's so much information in there and you can help yourself. It starts with you, and being a good person, being a fair person, and being an honest person. That's all I've ever wanted to be, and I think that's how you do make a change. When you change yourself you change the world.
