Why do we explore space?

Wow! The exploration of space is something that from all points of view is fascinating. First of all you have the search for the ultimate knowledge on how the space frontier works and weíve had several probes that explore the planets in the solar system. And we actually have the Voyageur probe that is now outside our solar system and we slowly learn a little bit more each day about makes up our solar system and how it works. One of the interesting things about the exploration of space is the benefits we receive here on earth from that exploration. Take Venus for example that is too hot to live on and Mars where the water and the atmosphere has escaped. We need to fully understand the evolution of those 2 planets so we know better how to look after our planet here on earth and there are many areas that benefit us from that aspect when we explore space. You can look at the deforestation of the surface of the earth, all the environmental factors that we have, the movement of the currents, El Ninio that has been prominent this winter was first noticed from space this year, so it's a very important area to study.

On this particular mission that Dave Williams is flying, the approach is, a medical approach where they're taking the human pysiology putting it into the extreme environment of space. Finding out what the changes are - how you feel in space and hopefully, what affects your systems in space that will help the state of life and the quality of health here in earth.
